Viktor Varkonyi, CEO of Graphisoft SE and Sean Flaherty, CEO of Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. have both been promoted to the Executive Board of Munich, Germany-based Nemetschek AG

In an interesting development, European AEC software giant leader, Nemetschek AG has announced new board roles for two CEOs of subsidiary companies, Graphisoft SE of Hungary and Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. of the United States.

Spanning more than 47 combined years at both companies, Viktor Varkonyi of Graphisoft and Sean Flaherty both bring strong software industry expertise and strong leadership to the new Executive Management Team.

Securing Leadership & Directing Vision

The company announcement states that The Nemetschek Group is committed to securing a leadership position in the AECO (Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and Operations) and design industry and plans to leverage current growth opportunities resulting from the rapid changes in technology and the digitalization of building processes.

Architosh Analysis

Back in August of this year Tanja Dreilich had resigned from the office of the chairperson of the managing board of Nemetschek AG. It is not clear yet how that departure may have a relationship to this new announcement.

Nemetschek AG as a group of related technology companies likely could be performing better at driving synergies between the various group’s assets and by leveraging these synergistic benefits in its competition against other major companies such as Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble and other similar companies competing in the AECO market. To be fair, the company began an ambitious and well-respected interoperability initiative called Open BIM. It has also leveraged connections between a few of its BIM tools and Maxon Computer’s industry-leading rendering and animation software. There are certainly more areas where synergy can take place and more opportunities like the one Maxon made with its strategic partnership with Adobe.
