Munich, Germany-based SimScale, the provider of the world’s first production-ready SaaS application for engineering simulation (CAE), announced recently the release of their new workbench.

SimScale Workbench 2.0 — As Fast As Desktop Application

Built entirely from scratch on the latest state-of-the-art technology stack, SimScale Workbench 2.0 offers dramatically improved user experiences, with decreased loading times and increased interaction speed. In fact, the company claims Workbench 2.0 is as fast as a desktop application.

Additionally, the latest 2.0 release sets the stage for major new updates and features that are already in development and will be released in the coming months.

“Right from the start, I love it! Well done. This is a really nice improvement,” said Ben Lewis, President of Custom Machines and a SimScale customer.

01 – The new SimScale Workbench 2.0 has an improved UI/UX with performance so fast it feels like a desktop application. The SaaS app brings computer-aided engineering (CAE) and simulation to any modern browser on macOS, Windows, Linux and other operating systems.

“SimScale was built to bring simulation technology to every designer and engineer in the world. With the release of the new workbench, we take a big leap towards making CAE as easy as it needs to be to emerge from the expert’s toolbox into a web-based platform everybody can benefit from. Some exciting automation features are yet to come, so keep an eye on us,” said Alexander Fischer, VP Product and co-founder of SimScale.

SimScale Workbench 2.0 — Improved UI/UX

Users of this latest version will not only notice a dramatic performance improvement, but SimScale also changed the user interface so that the main window is significantly more dominant in the overall UI. The settings panel can also now “float” over the main viewer window, reserving as much space as possible for visualization.

Together with the new model scheme—which preserves the original CAD coloring if possible—and a new translucent render mode, interaction with the model has been made significantly more efficient.

SimScale’s vision includes making engineering simulation as intuitive as possible. With the previous workbench, the meshing, simulation, and post-processing steps were separated into three different tabs. The new version, on the other hand, consolidates the entire workflow into a single tree, helping users set up their projects faster and easier by following a straightforward, step-by-step approach, from top to bottom.

A third major change is the ability to perform a simulation directly on one’s CAD model—on their geometry, with less exposure to mesh generation.

About SimScale

SimScale is the world’s first production-ready SaaS application for engineering simulation. By providing instant access to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA), SimScale has moved high-fidelity physics simulation technology from a complex and cost-prohibitive desktop application only available to experts in large companies to a user-friendly web application accessible to any designer and engineer in the world via a pay-as-you-go pricing model.

By harnessing the power of the cloud for simulation, SimScale is accessible from a standard web browser and any computer, eliminating the hurdles that accompany traditional simulation tools: high installation costs, licensing fees, deployment of high-performance computing hardware, and required updates and maintenance. Founded in 2012 and based in Munich and Boston, SimScale is an integral part of the design validation process for thousands of successful companies worldwide and over 150,000 individual users across multiple industries, from AEC and HVAC to electronics, consumer goods, automotive and aerospace.
