Maxon has released a new updated rendering plugin for Unreal Engine. The new Maxon Cineware for Unreal Engine plugin 4.27 adds multiple new features and workflow improvements.

It now enables the ability to modify Cinema 4D content and attributes directly within Unreal Editor.

Version 4.27 Features

Cineware for Unreal Engine v.4.27 makes it easier to import C4D files directly into Unreal. An updated Datasmith import uses the Cinema 4D installation already on your computer to dynamically import your complete C4D scene without the need to generate any caches. This will keep files small and enables new interactive workflows with Unreal.

You can also now update Cinema 4D content directly from within Unreal. You can adjust specific attributes within a Cinema 4D file directly within the Unreal Engine—such as text and other scene settings within a panel or using the Blueprint editor. A simple click will reimport the Cinema 4D file with your changes applied.

Unreal engine and C4D integration.

Studios around the world are increasingly using Unreal Engine to generate broadcast motion graphics. This C4D integration streamlines 3D artists Cinema 4D workflows in the broadcast space.

You can also now import files from other applications using the Cineware plugin. The C4D file format is much bigger than just Cinema 4D. Several of Maxon’s partners or Nemetschek Group sibling companies have adopted this robust 3D file format.  For example, Datasmith import of Cinema 4D files can be used with files coming from Allplan, Archicad, and Vectorworks—offering a great starting point for architectural walkthroughs and visualizations using Unreal Engine.

Technical Notes

Cineware for Unreal 4.27 or later is immediately available but must be enabled in the Plugins list for each project. Cineware for Unreal requires a Cinema 4D S24.111 installation for dynamic import. Activation not required.
