This week Architosh is in Las Vegas for back-to-back conferences, starting with GRAPHISOFT’s Key Client Conference (KCC) and then the AIA National Convention.

On day one of the conferences GRAPHISOFT and Epic Games, the makers of the Unreal Engine and Unreal Studio, made joint announcements about the future next-generation, real-time rendering. The two companies are announcing a collaboration to provide ARCHICAD 23 customers with free access to a future version of Epic’s new visualization solution, based on the recently acquired Twinmotion.

The Future of Real-Time Raytracing in Twinmotion

The next future version of Epic’s technology will incorporate state-of-the-art real-time raytracing rendering technology—technology GRAPHISOFT KCC attendees got to see in action at the conference.

The future of Twinmotion was demoed by GRAPHISOFT and Epic at yesterday’s GRAPHISOFT KCC conference. ARCHICAD 23 users will gain this application for free as part of a co-marking deal between the two companies.

“The same Unreal Engine that powers the world’s most popular video game, Fortnite, has been part of Twinmotion for years,” says Marc Petit, General Manager, Unreal Engine, Epic Games. “We are now very excited to work with GRAPHISOFT to promote the use of real-time visualization solutions to help architects and designers visually communicate. The simplicity of the Twinmotion user interface and the power of Unreal Engine to deliver real-time effects is unmatched in the industry.”

“Real-time rendering indeed is a next big thing in photorealistic visualization,” says Huw Roberts, GRAPHISOFT’s CEO. “To bring this cutting-edge technology to the AEC space we couldn’t find a better partner than Epic Games! ARCHICAD 23 customers will benefit from an unparalleled immersive experience when creating and sharing their architectural designs.”

Special Offer to ARCHICAD 23 Customers

As part of GRAPHISOFT’s and Epic’s agreement, all qualifying ARCHICAD 23 license holders, having purchased their licenses anew or upgraded from earlier versions, are entitled to a matching number of a fully functional next-generation Twinmotion, free of charge.

Both companies are working closely to enable a simple one-button push of ARCHICAD models to the next version of Twinmotion. That application is expected in Q4 2019.
