Belgium-based Bricsys, part of the Swedish giant Hexagon (Nasdaq Stockholm: HEXA B), announced earlier this month its teaming up with VREX to improve model exchange workflows and push BricsCAD BIM geometry models to the Vrex virtual reality (VR) platform.

BIM + VREX

Vrex is a collaboration platform that uses virtual reality to help users understand complex project models. A highly scalable and secure SaaS platform, VREX will now aid BricsCAD BIM users enabling a coordinated workflow wherein AEC users can share BricsCAD BIM models with multiple stakeholders via a simple export process to the Vrex virtual reality platform.

Vrex is a virtual reality-based collaboration platform.

BricsCAD BIM leverages OpenBIM and certified IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) workflows. This makes is relatively simple for Vrex subscribers to “virtually meet” inside building models, perform visual inspections, and share building and project data in a compliant manner from any location.

Rahul Kejriwal, CEO of Bricsys, says: “BricsCAD BIM equips Vrex users with an AI-powered design tool supporting flexible workflows and feature-rich tools that have an IFC-first approach, paving the way for successful projects and better products. This partnership is another exciting step in our mission of providing industry-leading software solutions as the construction sector continues to digitize.”

BCF Capable

Both platforms independently support the BIM Collaboration Format (BCF), whereby different types of AEC BIM/software users can interface with each other, exchanging BCF files that package up both geometric view and model information combined with non-geometric data for information exchange. With BCF Vrex and BricsCAD BIM users can leverage services such as BIM Track, BIMsync, and BIMcollab to easily communicate emerging issues during the virtual meeting held inside Vrex, and post-meeting can be resolved inside BricsysCAD BIM.

Hans Fredrik Johansen, CEO of VREX says: “Vrex integrating with BricsCAD is another step towards the global BIM integration we want to achieve. With Vrex-BricsCAD anyone, regardless of their experience level, can step into the 3D model and understand them instantly. It allows for crystal clear communication across teams and seamless collaboration in a virtual reality environment.”
