Autodesk has announced the finalists for the 2019 AEC Excellence Awards, an exciting award program that attracts design, build, and engineering talent from a world-class group of firms and individuals.
This year 18 judges reviewed 186 submissions from around the world and narrowed them down to 27 finalists in the Building Design, Construction, and Infrastructure categories.
AEC Excellence Awards 2019: The Finalists
Finalists projects include a complex bridge over one of Germany’s most heavily-traveled highways, built from a single model using digital planning methods; an underground wastewater treatment plant in China that serves a million people using BIM data, IoT, and sensors; and new Health Sciences building at the University of Arizona, a project that demonstrate the impact of prefabrication on project success. These three are just a sampling of the finalists involved.
Eighteen judges narrowed down 27 finalists from over 186 submissions. This year’s categories—Building Design, Construction, and Infrastructure—include small, medium, and large-sized projects with budgets ranging from less than $1 million to more than $4 billion. That’s because technology, collaboration, and innovation happen no matter the size of a project.
Autodesk says that the second year, the Innovator of the Year award will also recognize a user of technology that is leading, changing, and transforming the design and/or construction process for their project, company, or industry in a positive way. This category received 43 entries from 19 countries, representing a diverse group of AEC industry professionals.
Winners Announced at AU in Vegas
There will be 10 winners announced later in October and their achievements will be honored at Autodesk University (AU) in Las Vegas at the AEC Customer Showcase Celebration breakfast event on November 19, 2019.
