Finalists projects include a complex bridge over one of Germany’s most heavily-traveled highways, built from a single model using digital planning methods; an underground wastewater treatment plant in China that serves a million people using BIM data, IoT, and sensors; and new Health Sciences building at the University of Arizona, a project that demonstrate the impact of prefabrication on project success. These three are just a sampling of the finalists involved.

Eighteen judges narrowed down 27 finalists from over 186 submissions. This year’s categories—Building Design, Construction, and Infrastructure—include small, medium, and large-sized projects with budgets ranging from less than $1 million to more than $4 billion. That’s because technology, collaboration, and innovation happen no matter the size of a project.
