Founder, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief
Anthony Frausto-Robledo, AIA, LEED AP, is a practicing architect and the founder and editor of the award-winning AEC/O industry publication Architosh.com. Spanning more than two decades, his writing at Architosh and elsewhere have earned him praise and honors throughout the AEC/O industry, including press coverage, interviews, and industry awards. He has also been an invited juror as an industry expert in Autodesk’s global AEC Excellence Awards program and an invited juror in Bentley’s similar global Year in Infrastructure Awards program.
In 2013, The Boston Architectural College honored Anthony with the Alumni in Practice Award’ for “making significant contributions to the design community…and providing exemplary service in the fields of architecture and interior design.”
Within the AEC/O industry, Anthony is recognized as a domain expert in the use of the Macintosh computer system in the field of Architecture. He is a former official Apple press VIP. He is also regarded as one of the best writers in the AEC/O industry in the field of semiconductors (chips) and has been cited in academic journals and interviewed or cited in the media by computer magazines like Wired, ZDnet, ArsTechnica, Macworld, Macwelt and others. Noted Exclusives
Noted for his integrity and fairness, Anthony has been granted multiple key industry exclusives. When Autodesk brought back AutoCAD to the Apple Mac platform in 2010, Architosh was granted the exclusive feature story on its return.
More recently, in 2020, when major architectural firms in the UK and other countries published the now famous Open Revit Letter, protesting Autodesk’s progress and licensing issues with the dominant BIM software tool, Architosh was the only publication worldwide granted interview access to Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost.
Two years later, Architosh was again granted a major media exclusive being the only global AEC/O industry publication—and one of only three publications in the United States—to interview Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost, about Autodesk Forma, the new industry cloud solution for AEC/O just prior to its global unveiling at 2022 Autodesk University.
Throughout the past 20-plus years, Architosh has published numerous other important features with significant industry impact and attention—including a recent story on semiconductor technologies and the CAD industries (see also this at Engineering.com) and one on the second Revit Open Letter, which contained interviews from global architecture firms Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group).
Industry Impact
Architosh’s impact extends beyond Anthony’s writing to the excellent work of its two senior associate editors, Akiko Ashley and Pete Evans. In particular, Architosh’s BEST in SHOW award honors at the AIA National Convention each year are very well-regarded and looked forward to. Conducted in conjunction with architect and academic Pete Evans, the BEST of SHOW program has shone a critical lens on the ongoing evolution of digital technologies transforming architects’ workflows. Some of the writing from the BEST of SHOW program has been cited in critically-acclaimed books and academic journals, including Convergence: The Redesign of Design by architect and academic Randy Deutsch, and the BTES 2017 Proceedings, among others.
In addition, both Anthony and Pete were invited to contribute critical essays to the book edited by Harvard University’s Bradley Cantrell and Adam Mekies titled, Codify: Parametric and Computational Design in Landscape Architecture, published by Routledge. Multiple articles on Wikipedia cite Architosh’s writings.
Finally, Anthony has spoken at several industry events, including ABX Boston, New York City 3D Users Group, Boston Vectorworks Group, BACTalks, and others. He has been a web event moderator and has spoken at the Graebert Annual Event (virtual) multiple times.
Anthony Frausto-Robledo, AIA, LEED AP, is a licensed architect and associate principal at Morehouse MacDonald and Associates, Inc. He is the only major globally noted AEC/O technology writer, editor, or publisher who is also active in full-time architecture practice.
