Vectorworks, Inc., a Nemetschek subsidiary and global design and BIM software leader, has announced its latest Vectorworks 2023 product line, including Vectorworks Architect, Vectorworks Landmark, Vectorworks Spotlight, Vectorworks Fundamentals and new 2023 versions of ConnectCAD, Braceworks, and Vision.

“For Vectorworks 2023, we have spent our time focused on improving our software so that designers don’t feel bogged down by the technology but instead find efficiencies that let them focus on imaginative and creative designs,” says Vectorworks CEO Dr. Biplab Sarkar.

Vectorworks Architect for BIM

Vectorworks isn’t just the first BIM solution in the market with native support for Apple’s ARM-based chip Mac computers, but Vectorworks Landmark is the global leader in BIM for landscape professionals. The company continues to accelerate on both market and technical levels within the larger AEC BIM industry.

Vectorworks Architect 2023 features new technologies and features to work with the industry standard BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) files. With a new dedicated web palette, the BCF Manager can now stay open to so that users can efficiently work and manage BIM model changes via BCF while working with cloud-based collaboration tools and CDEs. This is an increasingly important workflow requirement in the Open BIM experience.

There are also new Revit file import options, and users will find more flexibility and power while working with consultants and others who use the Revit platform. Vectorworks can now translate more Revit object types, and users can reference Revit files directly for a more collaborative workflow.

Core architectural objects have also been re-engineered and modernized, making them more intuitive and thus reducing the amount of manual work by the user. There is also a new Graphics Legend tool to solve the historical issue of users creating object types and drawing legends and linking their connections.

And Vectorworks Architect 2023 now enables users to create and edit door and window objects by simply drawing a rectangle on the face of a wall in 3D or a line spanning an opening in 2D plan mode. They can also be interactively edited, making modeling more enjoyable and faster.

Finally, in the area of BIM-focused features, version 2023 builds on the data-centric previous version, adding more powerful reporting tools.

BIM in Landscape

Vectorworks Landmark 2023 advances the software’s leading BIM capabilities for landscape design professionals. There will be big improvements to site grading via new site modifier modes that enable the user to craft more complex grading projects.

Partnering with Laubwerk, version 2023 will greatly expand the extensive library of 3D plant geometry with a wide range of detail levels, seasonal changes, and growth representations. This will lead users to represent plantings more accurately in 3D and in 2D documentation.

Finally, the grading improvements will also complement new tools for proper drainage, vehicular and pedestrian use, and contour drawing and editing.

Entertainment Design

Vectorworks is the world leader in entertainment design solutions aimed at the theater, performance, and exhibition space design markets. Version 2023 of Vectorworks Spotlight will continue to see updates and improvements to the most important tools in Spotlight that lessen the amount of manual work for users.

New updates focus on making the Spotlight Cable tool more powerful and faster. You can now define the entry and exit of cables in a cable run, and the new Property View tab in the Power Planning palette will allow for easier selection and editing of objects in your model.

“Delivering these frequently requested improvements to the existing functionality in our entertainment products is sure to make the upgrade process for Vectorworks Spotlight users smoother than ever before,” says Darick DeHart, chief product officer at Vectorworks.

Availability

Vectorworks users can look forward to these new features and more with the delivery of an English-language version of Vectorworks, Braceworks, ConnectCAD, and Vision 2023 soon.
