AGACAD released its new Smart Documentation software plug-in for Autodesk’s Revit, on 6 June 2022. Smart Documentation is designed to simplify and automate the preparation of Revit documents and drawings.

Smart Documentation is the latest addition to AGACAD’s range of Revit productivity plugins and BIM (building information modelling) software. It is intended for architects, structural engineers, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineers, prefabricators, and anyone else in the building industry who has a responsibility for producing high quality documentation with Revit.

AGACAD Smart Documentation for Revit can:

  • Automatically sort, mark, and number Revit elements.
  • Create and manage views.
  • Import Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into Revit.
  • Synchronize Excel spreadsheets with Revit data.
  • Create and control a large number of sheets.

AGACAD’s Managing Director Donatas Aksomita tells us:

“In fabrication and construction, everything hinges on the documentation. Building designers above all need to create drawings, schedules and so on. Most do so inefficiently, adding views and annotations one by one, losing a lot of time and risking errors. We developed Smart Documentation to fill the project documentation gaps in Revit, generating content quickly and accurately, at times replacing hours of drafting with just a few clicks.”

While some earlier add-ins, including those from AGACAD, helped with parts of documentation in Revit, this new package is a complete suite covering the entire process. Having all the necessary tools in one place, with near-identical setup and functionality, makes the entire Smart Documentation package easy to learn and use.

In 2018, Revit developer Autodesk Inc. named AGACAD one of its first AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) Industry Partners. Industry Partners develop plugins for Autodesk’s software in order to increase its functionality. This enables users to work more efficiently, deliver better designs, and reduce unnecessary waste.

AGACAD’s Smart Documentation for Revit enables designers to sort, mark, and number Revit elements automatically. It can create and manage views, assemblies, legends, and sheets. The plug-in can import Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into Revit and synchronize them with Revit data. It can also create and control a large number of sheets.
