The Layer App will offer pre-designed project templates, giving users an even faster way to set up key AECO workflows in Layer. As one of the newest productivity platforms on the market, Layer is an infinitely flexible app and Revit add-in that makes it easy for AECO professionals to access their rich project data right in Revit.

Pre-designed workflow

The new templates include pre-designed workflows for every phase of the building lifecycle: Design, Construction, and Operations.

The Layer app updates in the latest version to support templates for project formation inside the app.

These templates provide users a starting point to customize standard workflows to specific user and project needs. As always, any rich field data that is captured and organized in Layer can be accessed instantly in a connected Revit model.

BIM tools and Layer

For readers wanting to know more about using Layer without a Revit model or if the company plans to support other BIM platforms, Architosh’s INSIDE Xpresso newsletter, latest release, discusses this and more with the c0-founder. Construction phase templates

Layer’s Design phase templates include category forms for collecting field data, managing FF&E, and coordinating design issues. As projects move forward, Layer provides Construction phase templates for RFIs, submittals, and punch list tasks. Finally, users can format Layer’s Operations phase templates for work orders, asset management, and compliance inspections.

Centralizing information

As COVID-19 has made efficiency and team collaboration a priority, Layer improves productivity by keeping remote teams focused around one digital source of truth that doesn’t rely on file servers. The app’s new variety of project templates and robust suite of team communication tools can be used during any phase of a building project. Digitizing manual workflows and centralizing information has huge time and cost savings, even in the middle of a project.

“Our goal is to help AECO teams find the information they need quickly, so they can spend more time designing. Layer’s new project templates will make it even easier for users to get their workflows configured and automated,” says Layer founder, Zach Soflin, AIA. He added, “We worked with several of our key clients to develop these workflow templates, which are completely editable or can be used right out of the box.”
