IMSI® Design, a leading CAD software developer, announced in April the release of TurboCAD 2020, including multiple versions of the award-winning and highly regarded CAD alternative. This includes TurboCAD 2020 Platinum, Professional, Delux and Designer versions for Windows desktop computers.

The 2020 release focuses on 3D modeling and enhancements that make it a stronger CAD option for the manufacturing sector.

“This year’s 2020 release, puts a greater emphasis on 3D Modeling and Manufacturing enhancements,” says Bob Mayer, President of IMSI Design. “There are powerful enhancements to our Facet Editor, new 3D Covering functionality, 3D Printing improvement, an updated solid modeling engine, and other productivity enhancements.”

IMSI Design’s new TurboCAD 2020 product line up is out.

“That is not to say that there aren’t any significant enhancements to Usability, Performance and 2D Drafting and editing.  There really are!  We are particularly pleased with how much faster TurboCAD handles complex objects and files, constraint animation, and with the new support of advanced mechanical CAD file formats in our Platinum edition,” added Mayer.

The heart of new 3D modeling features and updates is the updated ACIS engine (modeling kernel) by Spatial. TurboCAD now uses ACIS version 29.0 and now supports the import and export of the latest SAT, ASAT, and SAB files (v28, v29).

Other interoperability improvements include AutoCAD and SketchUp 2020 compatibility. There is also new support of Import and Export file filters from the leading, professional mechanical CAD products,  Including CATIA, Inventor, NX, Parasolid, ProE, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, and VDA-FS.

There are improvements for the architectural TurboCAD user with an openings modifier for multi-story houses. And there is a new Flat Shot feature that lets you create a 2D view of a 3D object, including visible and invisible lines, and then it saves the view in the Blocks Palette.

The full list of features can be seen here. Be sure to check out the video below.
