Nemetschek’s Viktor Várkonyi named “Executive of the Year” in Hungary

Division Officer Planning & Design Chief, Viktor Várkonyi, wins prestigious “Executive of the Year” in Hungary award for 2019.

Former GRAPHISOFT CEO and member of the Executive Board of the Nemetschek Group in Germany, Viktor Várkonyi has been named Executive of the Year in Hungary, for 2019.

The prestigious award is being handed out annually by the Hungarian Association of Executives, the largest organization for local chief executives. Criteria are management excellence, a minimum of ten years of successful leadership background and the achievement of important milestones in the past year.

Várkonyi is currently Executive Board Member and Chief Division Officer Planning & Design Division of the Nemetschek Group.

After a pre-screening and nomination process, the Nomination Committee created a shortlist of candidates for anonymous voting, with the winner being selected by a secret ballot by the Presidency of the Association. Both the Committee and the Presidency consist of internationally renowned Hungarian professionals. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, 7 March 2020, in the Marriott Budapest Hotel in Budapest, Hungary.

Viktor Várkonyi has been a member of the Executive Board of the Nemetschek Group since December 2013 and was appointed as Chief Division Officer, Planning & Design Division, in February 2019. In this role, he is responsible for the division’s global strategic alignment as well as for positioning the Nemetschek Group as a BIM market leader for connected end-to-end AEC workflows.

In 2009, he was appointed to CEO of Graphisoft, which at the time had already been part of the Nemetschek Group. In the course of his leadership, Graphisoft became one of the most dynamically growing companies in the Group’s 16-brand-portfolio.

Várkonyi studied Electrical Engineering and holds a Master of Computer Sciences from the Technical University of Budapest as well as an Executive MBA from ­Purdue University in the USA. He started his career at Graphisoft, Hungary, and held various leadership positions over the past 20 years.

The Hungarian Association of Executives recognized Viktor Várkonyi´s ongoing success, shaping Graphisoft to become a truly global company and heading the largest market segment of the Nemetschek Group, in charge of 60 percent of total revenues.
