Tech Soft 3D has announced excellent news for the Mac professional audience in the AEC and CAD industries, with the news of HOOPS Communicator 2020 for Apple’s Mac platform.

The support for Mac means software engineers now have access to a powerful, leading SDK (software development kit) for building web-based engineering applications for manufacturing and AEC markets.

HOOPS Communicator 2020 for Mac

As part of this release for Mac, HOOPS Communicator 2020 adds capabilities to import, enrich, and export BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) files for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) industry.

Key Takeaway

Tech Soft 3D’s new Mac support in HOOPS Communicator means developers working in engineering and CAD development companies can now build powerful web-based engineering apps that users interact with via web browsers. This greatly expands the access to Tech Soft 3D’s product to the legions of software folks working on building cloud-based tools.

The BCF file format is a critical piece of the collaboration solution puzzle in the AEC industry which has increasingly adopted BIM workflow technologies. It is absolutely necessary for developing applications that advance the digitalization of the construction industry—including buildings and infrastructure within AEC.

Tech Soft 3D has announced HOOPS Communicator 2020 for Mac, now includes BIM Collaboration Format.

These tools provide a robust environment for creating and managing information on construction projects across the project lifecycle.

“There are so many Mac users in the cloud development world that making HOOPS Communicator available for the Mac was an obvious choice,” said Erik Hultgren, Product Manager Visualization Solutions, Tech Soft 3D. “As we see more and more demand from our BIM, Manufacturing and Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) partners for the highest quality graphics and performance, we continue to enhance HOOPS Communicator with this in mind. No other toolkit can provide the kind of speed, quality and visual fidelity we know are expected when creating complex 3D engineering web applications.”

HOOPS Communicator 2020 also includes documentation for creating Docker containers enabling partners to create, test, and deploy their apps faster. It also includes new overall documentation with the extended Programming Guide. New vertical market tutorials reduce new user implementation time.

Additionally, the HOOPS Communicator streaming server has been improved to provide enhanced performance on lower bandwidth connections.

Architosh Analysis

If we read between the lines a bit from Erik Hultgren’s quote above, what we can surmise is this: especially in the AEC software industry, and probably particularly in the European segment, Tech Soft 3D partners and clients have been asking for or demanding a native macOS version of HOOPS Communicator for some time. He says “we see more and more demand” and this is particularly going to be true as time goes on as more AEC tools work their way to web browser-based versions as well as we see new browser-based BIM specific tools emerge.
