The Open Design Alliance (ODA), the leading provider of CAD interoperability and component technology, announced this week the detailed agenda for ODA DevCon 19—to be held in Milan, Italy, at the NH Milano Congress Centre, on 10-11 September.

BIM (Building Information Modeling)—Primary Focus of ODA DevCon

With the rapidly increased urgency in BIM technology in AEC, the ODA is turning a lot of its attention to the needs of AEC developers, ramping up Revit-based technology interoperability, IFC interoperability technologies, and Web-based technology stacks.

The ODA (Open Design Alliance) has released its first IFC SDK. They will be showcasing BIM interoperability at their annual DevCon conference, to be held in Milan, Italy, in September.

“BIM is a primary focus for DevCon this year,” commented Neil Peterson, ODA President. “Jeffrey Ouellette, who manages the Implementation Support Group at buildingSMART® International, will be speaking about the impact of ODA’s new IFC SDK on their openBIM initiative.

“Open access to proprietary BIM formats will also be featured, as we showcase our latest technologies for working with Autodesk® Revit® and Autodesk Navisworks® files.”

DevCon in Milan is a great place to learn more about our new IFC technology and our vision for the future of the BIM industry.

Sergey Vishnevetsky, ODA Development Director, said, “ODA has a long-term focus. IFC is not just technology for today—as the IFC standard evolves, our SDK will be adapted to maintain up-to-date compatibility. We will also be adapting to changes in hardware, operating systems, and programming languages to ensure this technology remains viable for the longer term.

“DevCon in Milan is a great place to learn more about our new IFC technology and our vision for the future of the BIM industry.”

ODA DevCon 19 is open to ODA members and the general public. For more information please visit conference.opendesign.com.
