CAD News: HighDesign 2017 Now Available for Sierra, Coming to Windows

HighDesign 2017 not only boasts many excellent new features, the product adds a “consumer-level” priced LT version to the lineup and the company announces HighDesign is coming to Windows.

This month ILEXSOFT of Italy announced that HighDesign 2017, the latest release of their professional computer-aided design (CAD) software for Mac, is now ready for macOS Sierra. This new latest version also introduces a new entry-level “LT version” aimed at those professionals or hobbyist who simply need a professional-grade drafting software tool that is easy-to-use, yet affordable.

HighDesign 2017—New Features and Coming to Windows

HighDesign 2017 not only adds an LT edition but is also coming fully to Microsoft Windows.

In the area of new features, HighDesign 2017, “textures” are improved such that in the HighDesign library such that it now includes a selection of textures that are “ready to use” for your projects. Textures can have custom settings such as origin, scale, and orientation, enabling, for example, a diagonal layout to a tile texture for example. In the Standard and Pro editions, the Drawing Manager allows the user to extend the library with new, custom textures.

Improved drafting tools include items such as support for circular holes inside of hatches, more accurate input and dimensioning, new special line types such as grass and ridge, more options for polylines, and better management of project resources. The Column tool in HighDesign Pro now automatically aligns the insertion point of new columns to the grid defined by the existing columns. This makes quick work of laying out a column layout on a particular cadence or grid, including those with a defined angle or offset.

Finally, HighDesign 2017 adds much-improved layout support for drawing sheets, more support for entities, and for user coordinated systems which are critical when importing drawings created by BIM packages.

HighDesign LT is available for 69.99 USD, and HighDesign 2017 comes in two main editions, Standard for 199.99 USD and Pro for 349.99 USD. A third option, called “Professional Plus”, offers two Pro licenses at the convenient price of 499.99 USD. Yearly renewals for existing customers are available starting at 99.99 USD.
