Pixologic announces ZBrush 4R6 for Mac and Windows

Pixologic adds several new brush modeling tools to its acclaimed 3D sculpting system

Pixologic this week announced the latest version of its award-winning ZBrush 3D software, version 4R6. Central to Release 6 is the new ZRemesher–an evolution in ZBrush’s automatic retopology tool.

ZRemesher analyzes the curves in a mesh to produce a very natural polygon flow while giving the artist the control over local density management and curve flow orientation. ZRemesher can perform local retopology to a specific part of the mesh while keeping all border vertex points welded to the rest of the model.

Pixologic is saying the response by its artist community to this new capability has been overwhelming, with artists reporting that they can now do in minutes what used to take days.

01 - Pixologic's ZBrush 4R6 features new brushes, including a new Trim Curve and Bridge Curve brush.

ZBrush 4R6 also includes other enhancements in its sculpting toolkit, like a new Trim Curve, Bridge Curve and Creasing brushes. DynaMesh, ZBrush’s conceptual tool now preserves PolyGroups. And for hard surface modeling, the Panel Loops feature has been expanded with two more options to deliver more flexibility.
