Graphisoft touts ArchiCAD and Portuguese Architecture

ArchiCAD powers winning designs by Portuguese architects

Graphisoft is proud to announce that several Portuguese architects using ArchiCAD have finished with high marks in the Annual ArchDaily Building of the Year Awards. The Hungarian-based BIM leader is well noted for being preferred by many leading and award-winning architects throughout Europe and the Americas.

Luis Rebelo de Andrade and Diogo Aguiar have won the ArchDaily Building of the Year Award in the Hotels and Restaurants category for their Eco-Resort design in Pedras Salgadas, Portugal. The resort consists of a set of seven small houses in perfect harmony with the surrounding outdoors and designed in a modular pre-fabrication system.

These houses are varying combinations of the same three modules, creating different layouts and dialogues with the outdoors, occupying the empty spaces between the trunks of large trees and, at the same time, allowing each home to be unique in its own way. The pitched roofs of the small buildings redefine the contours of the park boundary and result in comfortable yet dynamic spaces.

01 - ArchiCAD was used by Portuguese architects Luis Rebelo de Andrade and Diogo Aguiar to win Building of the Year in their category at ArchDaily.

Another ArchDaily finalist using ArchiCAD is Louisinha Arquitectos, which won praise for its design of the MPA building in the old industrial zone of Porto. The mixed use building houses a school, offices, and retain areas. The use of steel and dark colored plaster is a nod to the industrial past of the zone of the city in which the building is located.

02 - Louisinha Arquitectos won a mention and was a finalist for this exciting mixed-use project, also designed using ArchiCAD.
