Architosh Editor Guest on The MacObserver ‘Background Mode’ Podcast with John Martello
BOSTON, MASS. — February 7, 2018 — Architosh.com today announced that its founder and editor-in-chief, Anthony Frausto-Robledo, was the feature guest on The MacObserver’s popular “Background Mode” podcast series, which aired on iTunes and online this week on Monday.
The Background Mode Podcast Series
John Martello, who is senior editor, of analysis and reviews, is the host of the “Background Mode” podcast series, which lately has been featuring an interesting collection of discussions with various journalists, editors, and former Apple executives. Martello, himself, is an Apple alum.
John’s episode with Anthony took the discussion from the earliest days of when Apple first learned of Architosh and when the Cupertino tech leader was focused on marketing and promoting the Mac to specific industry sectors like architecture, law, medicine, and science.
“I became aware of you back when I was doing science and public relations and promotions at Apple”, says Martello in the podcast, “and you were one of the heros…because we were in an era around 2000 with this new operating system in Unix, and we were starting to nibble on the edges of the workstations that were in place, and we loved you because you were a strong supporter of architecture on the Mac, which is exactly what we were trying to do.”
A Discussion on Architects, Technology, the iMac Pro and the Future Mac Pro
The 30-minute interview covers a wide range of topics, including how one becomes an architect, Anthony’s first encounter with Apple computers in an architecture firm, the evolution of CAD on the Mac in architecture, and a concluding discussion about what Apple has done lately to serve pro markets like architecture.
I became aware of you back when I was doing science and public relations and promotions at Apple and you were one of the heros…because we were in an era around 2000 with this new operating system in Unix, and we were starting to nibble on the edges of the workstations that were in place, and we loved you because you were a strong supporter of architecture on the Mac, which is exactly what we were trying to do.
Martello asks Frausto-Robledo about the specific nature of the role of the architect in the construction industry, and Frausto-Robledo explains how AEC industry professionals work and how things are changing in architecture practice due to advances in building technologies. “There’s almost too much expertise and specialization that is being placed on the generalist shoulders of the architect,” says Frausto-Robledo, when discussing the mounting pressures architects face due to advancements in the world of buildings.
