Vectorworks Architect 2026 is now available to Service Select and Subscription customers, and here is our take on what some of the more interesting features are that are new for users in the AEC industry. This article is focused on Vectorworks Architect 2026 and not the other vertical products.
Vectorworks Architect 2026
Depth Cueing
As we noted in an earlier report this year, Vectorworks, a daughter company of the Nemetschek Group, is leading the architectural BIM industry with its graphics technologies, and this time providing slick slider-based capabilities that enhance drawing clarity by providing Depth Cueing. The Depth Cueing itself is achieved via line weights, tonal values, and pixel transparency (transparency, by the way, is another feature the CAD/BIM company led the industry on eons ago).

Version 2026 introduces sophisticated Depth Cueing to enhance images and drawings from BIM and 3D models. This feature alone is a strong reason to be excited for the new 2026 versions of the software.
Depth Cueing is achieved dynamically based on the object’s distance to the camera in both Hidden Line and Shaded viewports. A Shaded viewport is akin to classic OpenGL 3D CAD rendering, but with enhancements beyond OpenGL. Architosh believes that this new feature alone is one of the strongest additions to Vectorworks Architect 2026, greatly streamlining and enhancing its visual qualities.
Door and Window Assembly Tool
While Depth Cueing is a core technology for all version 2026 products, Vectorworks Architect 2026 itself gains the new ability to create mixed door and window assemblies. To create them, users use the new Door and Window Assembly tool.
What is interesting is that the user can combine any mix of not just doors and windows, but also wall infills, panels, and Vectorworks symbols, which are equivalent to dynamic blocks in AutoCAD parlance.
File Health Checker
Back to another core technology improvement for all version 2026 users, the new File Health Checker will keep your Vectorworks files free of problems if you take the appropriate actions. This tool scans Vectorworks files to find things like hidden geometry and resource issues, and will provide smart suggestions that help users keep files problem-free and as light as possible memory-wise. This feature is only for Vectorworks subscription users and, in our view, is an excellent example of how to layer in added benefits and features for enticing users to join subscription licensing programs.
Slice Worksheets
You can now slice and dice Vectorworks Worksheets and neatly split your tabular data any way you like. By splitting a worksheet, the user can position data side-by-side or run large worksheets over multiple pages with table header data correctly positioned and optionally positioned. In fact, the user has the ability to also trim away vertical columns in the worksheets, and they will automatically do so from all linked split worksheets at the same time.
These are just some of the new features that caught our eye as to why Vectorworks Architect 2026 will be of high interest to AEC users.
