Vectorworks, Inc., for several years now, has been not just squashing bugs in product update releases but also releasing compelling new and improved features. This latest Update 3 for version 2024—which was released in the fall timeframe of 2023—continues on that path.
New Update 3 Features
The big new feature for all users is the import/export support for Autodesk Revit 2024 files. This enables BIM users, in particular, to stay current with one of the more dominant BIM authoring tools, particularly in the United States.
Architects gain better support for corner windows for wall closures, making BIM models more accurate. And here is a major update that experienced Vectorworks users will really love—the Call Out tool now supports working with rotated plans.
Landscape design professionals using Vectorworks Landmark will now benefit from a new PlantMaster plugin with an active PlantMaster subscription. This will vastly improve their available library of planting material for their designs and documentation. Users can install the plugin by accessing the Install Partner Products palette from within Vectorworks.
For entertainment lighting and AV design professionals, Update 3 includes key new developments to the My Virtual Rig (MVR) import and export functionality, bringing better support for Project Sharing, Gobo images, Seating Sections, and other data such as shutter information, color name and fixture position. The GDTF import function has also been advanced.
Finally, Braceworks customers can expect better reporting functionality.
