Design and BIM software provider Vectorworks has just obtained IFC4 Reference View 1.2 Import Certification from buildingSMART International (bSI). bSI is the global industry organization driving the digital transformation of the building industry, through the creation and adoption of international open standards for infrastructure and building design.
Having achieved both import and export certification, Vectorworks software now fully meets international standards for openBIM.
Vectorworks Director of Product Marketing, Martyn Horne briefly outlines the significance of IFC4 certification:
“Providing our users with a software platform that continuously delivers innovative efficiencies and collaborative capabilities is a top priority. This includes steadfast support of openBIM workflows, and the certification of our IFC4 import further exemplifies our ongoing commitment.”
The buildingSMART Software Certification program helps software vendors certify their applications against industry benchmarks. Consequently, it ensures that software complies with international standards. Certifications provide validation for Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) data exchanges.
In this instance, its Software Certification Program verifies that Vectorworks IFC4 import function has been quality-tested against bSI’s robust benchmarks. This ensures that users are consistently sharing the highest quality IFC models with other BIM software products. This helps to instill confidence in the accuracy and credibility of designers’ work.
IFC import and export in Vectorworks
Vectorworks is one of the industry’s leading BIM software programs. Its design-oriented BIM focus allows architects to conceptualize and edit a project, while generating drawings and schedules in real time. Vectorworks was also the first architectural software developer to achieve IFC4 export certification, back in 2019. Please click here for more information.
With its recently awarded import certification, Vectorworks now fully meets international standards for openBIM. Vectorworks can import and export its project files in (.ifc), (.ifczip), and (.ifcxml) formats. Consequently it allows users to exchange their designs accurately and reliably with other BIM software.
