Monograph, a practice operations platform for design professionals, has announced a new Head of Engineering. Ernie Miller joins the team in this new role which will ensure that Monograph runs smoothly as it grows out to revolutionize how architectural firms and projects are managed.
High Standards
“Maintaining and improving our high standard of software is of utmost importance as Monograph expands to new architecture and design firms,” said Monograph’s CEO and Co-Founder Robert Yuen. “We are confident that Miller not only possesses all of the necessary tools and knowledge to lead our engineering department but meets all standards we look for in adding to our team. As practice operations continue to evolve with hybrid and remote work, Miller will be integral in helping our team grow.”
In his new role, Miller hopes to increase efficiency within the team in place and add new engineering and software talent that share the same principles. A 20-year veteran with proven engineering leadership, Miller aims to merge the benefits of technology and its relationship with team members. He is excited about creating software that clients can navigate and interact with effortlessly.
“I’m thrilled to be part of a company that is already making an impact in the AEC industry. The team is already in a great position, and I look forward to taking it to the next level in 2022,” said Miller. “Monograph’s culture and emphasis on employee wellness are what prompted me to join the team. During the interview process, I learned that this was a company led by people who care about their team members and bet on people first.“
20 Million Series-B
Monograph has grown from 8 to 40 members in the past year. The firm has recently closed on a USD 20 million Series-B funding round. Both items expand opportunities for the startup and will add to the company’s acceleration as the premier practice operations platform for the architecture community.
With sudden growth, Miller believes the most crucial attribute a successful workplace can have is to focus on its employees and their workplace. A positive work environment can empower team members to be themselves leading to an increase in mental health and overall work performance.

Architosh Analysis and Commentary
We first wrote about Monograph in December 2018, three years ago. In our analysis at the end of that story, we noted some of the histories of such solutions for the AE market. For a few decades, some top solutions were custom FileMaker Pro solutions, but the modern Web changed the fate of tools like FileMaker. The technology behind SaaS solutions emerged well over a decade ago and today the web (plus mobile) is simply a better place for tools like financial, time, cost, and project management tools.
We have finally got our first peek at Monograph in action. This solution continues to impress. A year ago the company introduced Resources into project planning. We have plans for a more in-depth investigation of Monograph and look forward to this tool’s continued development.
