Winners of the “2019 In Studio Render/Sketch Competition” have been announced. The competition is put on by Vectorworks, Inc. and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and is now in its third year.
Entrants were asked to share their sketches and renderings to highlight their studio work and provide inspiration for those looking to improve on their own studio skills.
Winners Announced
“The jury had a tough time deliberating with the tremendous entries this time around,” said AIAS President Sarah Curry. “The caliber of applicants improves every time, and we chose the selected winners based on their ambition, ability, and artistry. Each of the contestants who placed was able to convey the emotion and atmosphere of the project and site through a mastery of their craft.”
And the winners are:
- First place and winner of $300: Alex Geisen of Washington State University
- Second place and winner of $200: Deiland Slaughter of Fairmont State University
- Third place and winner of $100: Lauren Wertz of Auburn University
“As part of the submission process, AIAS members had to tag Vectorworks’ Instagram handle when they uploaded their designs, and it was phenomenal to witness all of the inspiring and creative design submissions from students,” said Alice Lowy, marketing programs director at Vectorworks. “The fundamental mission for Vectorworks is enabling great design to occur. We’re grateful for our continued partnership with AIAS, and it’s wonderful to see great designs materializing with the future generation of architects.”
