Ultimaker, the global leader in desktop 3D printing, today has unveiled the Ultimaker S3, the company’s newest addition to its S-line of 3D printers.

The new S3 offers turnkey production capabilities in a high-quality product yielding quality results.

The Ultimaker S3

The new S3 is an affordable composite-ready desktop 3D printer with a small footprint and is packed with capabilities, including feeding wheels made of hardened steel and a CC print core. The new S3 integrates into Ultimaker’s open ecosystem and can print with almost any 2.85mm filament—such as PLA, ABS, Nylon, third-party materials and abrasive materials.

Ultimaker introduces the new Ultimaker S3, its latest low-cost desktop 3D printer for engineers, designers and architects.

Engineers and product designers can design, test, and produce models and custom end-use parts with the widest range of materials for their manufacturing needs. The wider nozzle coverage ensures that no space is wasted, which offers an increased build-volume-to-size ratio.

Key features include:

  • 4.7 touch screen interface — winner of the iF Design Award 2019. Features predefined print settings that help facilitate more precise 3D printing
  • Heated Build Plate
  • Advanced Active Leveling
  • Dual Filament Sensors — can detect empty filament spools
  • Dual extrusion with a build volume of 230 x 190 x 200 mm (9 x 7.4 x 7.9 inches)
  • 20-micron resolution (0.001 in.)
  • Open filament system that is compatible with glass and carbon fiber composites

“I am proud that we managed to pack all the latest breakthrough technology into a machine with a form-factor of the Ultimaker 3,” said Paul Heiden, Senior Vice President Product Management at Ultimaker. “The accessible Ultimaker S3 is capable of reliably manufacturing smaller parts and models at a price-point that removes the barrier to entry for entrepreneurs and SMEs to adopt 3D printing now.”

Availability and Pricing

The Ultimaker S3 costs $4,395.USD and is available starting 24 September 2019, through Ultimaker’s network of global partners. For more information, you can visit the product page here.

“We passionately believe that the ability for more businesses to affordably disrupt markets with rapidly developed manufactured parts and models, makes the Ultimaker S3 a no-brainer,” added Heiden. “And we’re excited to see how our customers take advantage of this new opportunity.”
