Controlling construction cost through the design and construction of building projects is one of the most demanding challenges AEC professionals face. Today, Autodesk made a step addressing those challenges by adding powerful construction cost management capabilities to the Autodesk BIM 360 platform.
Cost Controll—BIM 360
The new features come by way of a new module, that provides teams with new tools to better manage cost activities in the cloud.
BIM 360 Cost Management helps contractors manage budgets and supplier contracts, and streamline upstream and downstream change order workflows, creating clear accountability and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. This helps project teams control costs and confirm all changes are accounted for in the overall budget and are managed effectively to maintain positive cash flow, reduce risk and maximize profits.
Supported workflows include:
- Monitoring and tracking budget items and cost impacts
- Creating, editing and viewing supplier contracts
- Logging and detailing all potential change orders (PCOs)
- Upstream budget requests for change orders (RCOs) and formal owner change orders (OCOs)
- Downstream requests for quotations (RFQs)
- Supplier change orders (SCOs)
Autodesk BIM 360 is a cloud-based construction management platform intended to accelerate project delivery and minimize contractor risk with any time, anywhere access to project data across the entire construction lifecycle.
The BIM 360 Cost Management module builds on the lifecycle data, adding powerful change management workflows and helping to reduce risk by enabling teams to manage all cost related construction activities in a single software, with real-time visibility into the financial health of the project. The new module is tailored for the construction industry and includes the abilities to plan project budgets, visualize cost-related risk, and manage change order workflows.
