Spring is just around the corner and for Nemetschek’s Bluebeam subsidiary that means getting close to its annual early summer event Bluebeam eXtreme Conference.
But before that event happens the company is on the verge of announcing the next version of its flagship application, Revu 2018.
Revu 2018 Event
On 11 April 2018 Bluebeam will host a launch event webcast and those who sign-up can be the first to see how Revu 2018 works and what new features will empower the leading software tool in the construction market.
Last year Bluebeam opened up its Revu 2018 beta program which let in users to test drive new upcoming features as a beta user. Architosh doesn’t have any knowledge of what new features to expect in the upcoming Revu 2018, but we imagine based on what the company has told us about its parent company’s CDE plans that we should see the seeds of cloud-based CDE technology begin to show up. (see: Architosh, “Architosh Exclusive—Nemetschek Group Unveils Its CDE Strategy with Bluebeam Technology at its Core,” 13 Dec 2017)
Overall, the goal of supporting a true BIM Level-2 process, which is mandated in the UK AEC market, requires the utilization, ideally of a PAS 1192 compliant, CDE information architecture.
New Revu for Mac 2.0 Possibly Coming
The April event doesn’t mention the Mac version of Revu and the Windows versions are named after the year while the Mac versions are not. It is unlikely the April event will touch on the next version of Revu for Mac—version 2—but, hopefully, that update follows quickly. Another interesting new development at Bluebeam is its Studio Drawings beta project, which is a new application.
Readers interested in learning about what is new in Revu 2018 can sign-up here. The event starts at 9:00 AM PT, 11 April 2018.
