Luxion, the makers of KeyShot and Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading manufacturer of liquid and powder coatings, this week announced their collaboration in delivering high-quality visuals with the unveiling of the real-time Color Configurator for the grand opening of the Axalta Customer Experience Center on the Campus of Hendrick Motorsports in Concord, North Carolina.

The Color Configurator

The Color Configurator for Axalta’s Customer Experience Center is created using Luxion’s KeyShot, taking full advantage of the library of Axalta materials within KeyShot, as well as environmental lighting capabilities and industry-leading real-time rendering technology.

The interface (see image below) enables a customer to interact with and apply over 1,000 different colors from nine Axalta color collections, including Hot Hues and Spectramaster. Customers may change and evaluate the paint colors under different lighting conditions and select options across 36 different cars and truck models.

88-Core Machine Power

Being that Luxion’s KeyShot takes full advantages of multithreading, the Color Configurator is powered by an 88-core super computer—not literally a “classed” super computer but a maxed out rendering beast with 88-cores so customers can see all changes immediately in real-time in a user-interface optimized for touch-based interaction.

Axalta’s paint configurator is based on the new KeyShot Configurator, coming later this year with the release of KeyShot 7.

Experience the Color Configurator

The grand opening of the Axalta Customer Experience Center took place on 16 May 2017 (this week) and kicks off with tours of the facility and guest access to experience the Color Configurator first hand. The system is installed in their new 36,000 square foot facility which boasts training and conference areas, including two state-of-the-art paint application centers.

Collaborative mixing labs and a showroom where visitors can gain insight into the Axalta coating system technology and color array options is also housed inside.

Upcoming KeyShot 7

KeyShot 7 is currently in private beta and will feature the upcoming KeyShot Configurator. It will be available later in 2017. For information on the KeyShot 7 beta program, please email beta@luxion.com.
