Graphisoft, the Budapest-based, software leader in the AEC industry, has announced that ArchiCAD 20, recently revealed, has begun its global rollout process, getting the industry-leading BIM (Building Information Modeling) software into the hands of its customers.

ArchiCAD 20 Ships

Shipping started last week with the International, US, UK/Ireland, German, and Austrian versions, followed by the French version on July 4—the first six of 28 local versions for the global architecture market.

The rest of the localized language versions will be released on a continual basis. BIMcloud will also be released in parallel with the localized versions of ArchiCAD 20. For specific shipping dates in various markets, readers are asked to contact a local ArchiCAD reseller.

New Features in ArchiCAD 20

ArchiCAD 20 features a new fresh look, with an updated more modern user-interface (UI) based on flat-design graphics common in the mobile operating system space, such as Apple’s iOS.

01 - The new graphical user-interface (GUI) improvements in ArchiCAD 20 streamline the workflow process as well as provide a feel more akin to mobile apps. Moreover, the main work window is arguably the largest inside any rival BIM program on the market.

In ArchiCAD 20 there is an emphasis on the “I” in BIM. ArchiCAD 20 now allows users to store and maintain design information in the BIM model, even if the data was not created using CAD or BIM tools. A new graphical overrides feature enables queries executed on data inside the BIM tool which then is presented in a graphical mode, thereby clarifying the relationships between the data in either a 2D or 3D graphical view utilizing the BIM model.

ArchiCAD 20 continues to improve its OPEN BIM workflows and now supports IFC 4 (Industry Foundation Change), among other newer interoperability standards. And in terms of the sexy new features that designers may crave, ArchiCAD 20 rolls in its interoperability with Rhino 3D and Grasshopper technology, something that had been in development earlier as an option that is now integrated into the core application in version 20.
