Partnering with 3Dconnexion, the leading developer of input devices for CAD professionals, Onshape is now compatible with the SpacePilot Pro, SpaceMouse Pro Wireless, SpaceMouse Wireless, SpaceNavigator, SpaceNavigator for Notebooks and the CadMouse.

Onshape and Takes Up the 3D Mice

Onshape users simply need to install the 3Dconnexion driver for Windows and use the Chrome or Firefox browsers.

“Users of 3D mice expect to rotate, zoom, scroll and pan with far more ease than with a traditional mouse,” says Darren Henry, Onshape’s Director of Marketing. “This was the most popular enhancement request from Onshape users – and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver this level of performance right in a web browser.”

“3Dconnexion is excited to be partnered with Onshape so early and be part of the full-cloud CAD story,” adds John Moseley, Director of Global Marketing for 3Dconnexion. “We think users will be amazed by the real-time, superior 3D navigation experience when using a 3D mouse in Onshape. We are also delighted to see extensive support for the new CadMouse, the world’s first mouse designed for CAD professionals.”

CAD enthusiasts use a 3D mouse alongside their traditional mouse or CadMouse. The 3D mouse takes care of positioning the digital model, significantly reducing the load on the traditional mouse hand and also cutting down on keyboard usage. Users experience more natural and comfortable 3D navigation simply by pushing, pulling or twisting the controller cap. Additional quickview keys on some 3D mouse models enable immediate access to a range of useful views, making it easier to inspect models from any angle.

“3Dconnexion’s intelligent function keys and keyboard modifiers are always within reach of your fingers,” notes Henry. “These are programmable so you’ll save considerable time accessing common commands and your design work will become more fluid, productive and fun.”
