Informatix of Japan, has recently updated its architectural visualization program Piranesi to version 6.0.3, and features new updated plugins for popular architectural CAD, 3D and BIM tools.

Updates to Piranesi 6 Pro (v6.0.3)

Informatix has created plugins for export to EPIX files to Piranesi for Autodesk AutoCAD, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk 3ds max, and Maxon’s Cinema 4D.

This latest update is for all Piranesi 6 Pro and Piranesi 2010 Pro users. Importantly, Informatix is acknowledging that the licensing system has changed so all users upgrading should have their Piranesi Pro 6 or version 2010 license at hand. Readers can learn more here.

There are several new improvements in this latest release, including faster shadow generation, support for AutoCAD 2013 DWG in Vedute and as Cutouts and numerous bug fixes.

Piranesi runs on Windows (32 and 64 bit) and Mac OS X platforms. To learn more visit here.

 Architosh Analysis

Informatix of Japan has made several hard decisions in the past few years with regards to its software holdings. MicroGDS, a major CAD platform that reached its final build at version 11.3, has ceased future development, support and maintenance in the spring of 2013.

Piranesi, an award-winning application (and one Architosh reviewed years ago), has itself slowed tremendously in ongoing development. The point zero release for version 6 was released back in 2011. With such stalled development, without any major update in more than four years, it is hard for users to take faith in an investment in this program, despite its unique offerings.
