Graphisoft today announced an update and restructuring of their technology leading BIMx mobile application for AEC professionals like architects who utilize ArchiCAD as their chosen BIM platform. Now sharing BIM (Building Information Modeling) projects becomes easier.
Simplified Options for BIMx App
In response to customer feedback, Graphisoft has simplified the flexible licensing options that are available in the Apple App Store effective immediately. The new options include:
- BIMx — Recommended for clients, BIMx provides free of charge access to the 3D part of any building models in the BIMx format. This license can be upgraded to a PRO license to gain access to the full scope of BIM projects published in the BIMx format;
- BIMx PRO — Recommended for architects, BIMx PRO provides access to the full scope of BIM projects, including both 2D and 3D content (Hyper-model). Users can gain access with this license to any number of full BIMx projects on one particular device for 49.99.USD.
- BIMx Model Sharing (in-app purchase option) — Recommended for architects, BIMx Model Sharing offers an option to grant access to individual BIMx Hyper-models (including 2D and 3D content) for an unlimited number of clients on any of their devices without a time limit for 49.99.USD.
“By simplifying the license options available and following naming conventions in App Store, our users will better understand whether to choose the free version or the paid PRO version,” said Akos Pfmemter, Vice President, Marketing at Graphisoft.
06 – BIMx and BIMx Pro offer several industry unique features such as the ability to navigate between interactive agents on 2D documents to related locations of the 3D model in space and vise versa.

This is an excellent improvement in clarifying the options available for BIMx. The product technology is superb and has been highly lauded by the industry; if anything this update will only accelerate its adoption, if the technology itself isn’t already proving its value to AEC professionals.
