The 2014 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo this year, happening in New Orleans (Oct 21-24) this week is the place to see the latest technologies affecting sustainability solutions for the building industry. At hand is BIM leader GRAPHISOFT, showcasing its latest ArchiCAD 18 BIM software.
ArchiCAD 18 features design workflows that support the sustainable design process. Architects can evaluate a building’s energy needs and use through Building Energy Modeling which is integrated directly into ArchiCAD 18.
“Our longstanding commitment to sustainable design is best represented in the seamless integration of our building energy modeling solution into the building information model,” said Steve Benford, Managing Director, GRAPHISOFT North America. “Using our solution, designers can generate an indicative energy footprint early in the process to inform decisions about energy use and ultimately result in more sustainable buildings.”
ArchiCAD 18 provides built-in methods for determining energy values to advise and inform design decisions from the outset. ArchiCAD’s built-in Energy Evaluation converts the BIM (Building Information Model) to a BEM (Building Energy Model) providing analysis of the existing model with integrated solutions, and instant performance reports. This functionality allows architects to utilize energy analysis to achieve optimum energy performance in their designs.
