Although we don’t generally cover non-Apple platforms in our news, Mac and iOS developer Graphisoft has announced that their BIMx mobile product is now available for Amazon Kindle Fire and is available through the Amazon AppStore. This app works for both the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire Gen 2 devices. The Amazon AppStore is available to customers located in the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
BIMx is an interactive environment that allows the user to explore full BIM models without holding a license to the professional BIM authoring application software, which is where the building model was originally created. With BIMx, ArchiCAD users have been able to publish self-running BIMx models for their clients to run on desktop computers (Mac/Win), on iOS and Android devices, and now on Kindle Fire.
BIMx is also a community on Facebook, which acts like a hub for sharing interactive content (3D models) with users. Architects holding a BIMx license–either commercial or educational–can publish their models directly to this online community. Additionally, ArchiCAD users holding a full commercial license and an active Software Services Agreement can benefit from a cloud service exclusively provided by Graphisoft for private model transfer. For more information please visit your local ArchiCAD reseller.
