openBIM is a new industry term applied to the use of internationally recognized BIM interoperability standards for data sharing. These open standards include (but are not limited to) the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for building geometry and data. IFC is supported by over 35 international vendors and over 50 software applications and is used today to create, analyze, and distribute building information models.
Learning objectives include:

- Explain how interoperability is improved with openBIM workflows and IFC technology
- Explain how collaboration with design partners is improved with openBIM workflows and IFC technology
