The CAD industry upFront e-zine has news from the recent SolidWorks World 2011 event. At the event Dassault showed its new DraftSight (AutoCAD-like) CAD program running on an Apple iPad. Based on the German-based ARES CAD program (also available for Mac OS X) previously written about here on Architosh, DraftSight represents Dassault CEO Bernard Charles’ attempt at attacking US-based Autodesk’s AutoCAD CAD market worldwide. As Ralph Grabowski writes, its a way “to make that CAD company in the West quake in its boots.”
DraftSight is currently in a public late beta and Dassault is encouraging users to join the online DraftSight community while they learn about and use DraftSight. To learn more visit this web page.
