The Abvent Group, the editor and publisher of the famed Artlantis rendering software, this week announced the release of Artlantis 2.1. This new update focuses on speed and ensures that Artlantis–which is widely used by Mac-CAD based professionals using ArchiCAD and Vectorworks–stays on the leading edge of fast rendering applications.
Built for Speed
New in version 2.1 is enhanced support for multi-core processors, geometry optimization and an enhancement to light management. These three areas of improvement dramatically decrease render speed times–often as high as 6-8x improvement over the previous 2.0 release.
Artlantis users will recall that Artlantis 2.0 introduced several innovations to the Mac 3D world, including the concept of automatic light adjustment, allowing for a very realistic simulation of light in the real-time preview window. The new 2.1 version of Artlantis dramatically improves upon these calculations with a special focus on soft shadows, resulting in a faster update of the real-time preview window, and faster computing of the final renderings.
