for OS X Petition: $2.3 million revenue opportunity for Pixar.

Pro 3D Users Demand Higher Seat Counts
In addition to an increase of petitions from Pro 3D users, these
users also had the highest request for licenses of RenderMan for
Mac OS X. In fact, of all those who requested more than five (5)
seats, 72 percent were professional 3D studio folks, with one petition
listing a request for 38 licenses of RenderMan for Mac OS X.
And as you can see in the chart above, industrial designers and
graphics/publishing pros also demanded more licenses per petition.
These users turn out to be "highend" users of Mac 3D software,
not only requesting lots of licenses for studios but also users
of other expensive software.
RenderMan Request Come From Highend Users
Of all of the petitions requesting more than 5 seats of RenderMan
for OS X, 71 percent of these use Maya for Mac OS X. The chart below
is related to question 3 which asks readers to list all of the software
they currently own and use. Percentage totals therefore are greater
than 100 percent.
Clearly from the chart above, for "highend" users interested
in lots of RenderMan licenses, Maya for OS X is important in their
3D pipeline, as is Cinema4D and Lightwave 3D. Surprisingly Strata
3D Pro is also a popular tool and Form-Z apparently sees little
use by this particular "highend" Pro 3D crowd.
