Mac3D: Newtek
updates LightWave 3D 7 for AltiVec
Newtek has updated LightWave 3D version 7 to version 7b. The new
update is primarily focused on speed enhancements with code optimizations
for both SSE2 and AltiVec on Intel P4 and Apple G4 processors, respectively.
AltiVec and Mac OS X
The new AltiVec code also takes use of the Motorola math library
for Mac OS X, boosting rendering performance across the board. With
these new improvements, Radiosity rendering is sped up over 7x (7
times) faster than the previous version.
Further optimizations include a 20% - 80% improvement to OpenGL
rendering, multiprocessor support for SkyTracer 2 and Image World
and True Type support in Mac OS X. Additionally a number of bugs
were corrected as well.
