MWNY: Fujitsu
Computer's new MO Products
At Expo we had the opportunity of speaking with the Fujitsu folks
about their new FireWire-based MO (magnetic-optical) storage products.
The company had announced its new line with 2.3GB capacity drives.
Fujitsu's new 2.3 GB IDE drive nearly doubles the capacity of its
predecessor (1.3 GB line of drives) and is backward compatible (full
read and write) with all 3.5-inch MO media (includes 1.3 GB, 640MB,
540MB, 230MB, and 128MB disks). The new 2.3 GB drive will be available
in August from Fujitsu Computer Products of America's MO home page,
http://www.MOstorage.com.
Fujitsu is Ready for Mac OS X Platform
Fujitsu Computer Products of America is comitted to the Macintosh
OS X platform with a full line of products. Fujitsu drives offer
full native support for Apple's Mac OS X platform across FireWire,
USB and IDE interface technologies.
The Fujitsu MO Advantage
So what's so great about MO technology? The question is a good
one. And the answer we got is that MO technology has advantages
where neither pure optical or pure magnetic technology can go. MO
of course is a hybrid technology. It has all of the advantages of
optical disks like CD-Rlage, stable storage spacecombined
with the flexibility, quick re-writability and fast read-ability
of a magnetic hard drive disk. Data can be over-written countless
times yet the data on the disk is safe for over a decade.
MO technology is super dependable. Fujitsu's MO drives are backed
with a lifetime warranty. Dust, liquids and magnetic fields do not
affect data stored on MO disks and MO drives are built to be tolerant
of rugged environments and tough shocks.
MO drives are the storage medium of choice for the medical field
and are used in government and financial markets. With that type
of industry-proven reliability and fast seek times, data transfer
rates and 8MB buffers MO drives are ideal for audio, video, and
intensive graphics and 3D application, in addition to running applications
directly off the MO disks.
New Fujitsu Drives - Attracive Enclosure
The new Fujitsu DynaMO 1.3GB
drive comes in FireWire, USB, SCSI and ATAPI interface models and
features a handsome slim enclosure. Other drives include Macworld
Expo specials for the DynaMO 1300FE
FireWire 1.3GB MO drive and the DynaMA
640SF+USB SCSI & USB 1.3GB drives.
