Welcome to Architosh's improved home page with Industry Launch Pads below!

HighLights

News Alert: 6 July: CNC Milling software news continues to be delayed but we have OS X news at right regarding critical API's for CAD and 3D. We will be covering more OS X news shortly. Stay tuned.

Gearing Up for Macworld Expo. With less than 29 days to go we have some neat stuff in the pipeline, including more Firm Profiles.

We have exciting news at left for 3D pros, including a free version of Amapi 3D, EIAS v2.9 for as little as $99 and more.

MacDraft 5 has arrived! Check out the details at left. We continue to gather more members in the AIWUG and plan on a near future update prior to Macworld Expo.

We have updated the AIWUG Members Listings . If you don't see your information there after having submitted it recently please give us a quick email and we'll get things fixed.

We are delaying our Autocad on OS X report a bit. Stay tuned for that.

We have won the TenLinks.com 'Site of the Week' award. And we are going to be updating our AIWUG Members List this week. We have announced a multi-prize giveaway contest. Check out our long overdue Digital Practice Guide (DPG) which will become a terminal of information on Macintosh CAD/3D/AEC products and services.

Architosh has new Corporate Sponsors. We are extremely delighted to be introducing new corporate sponsors of our site. To the left of all pages (eventually) you will have quick access to leading Macintosh vendors serving our audience. Check them out they have great products and services and fully support the Macintosh!

-----------------

Apple introduced the all new iBook, a sleek and smaller version which resembles the Titanium PowerBook G4 more than its predecessor.

In the news today Microsoft is again in trouble on Anti-trust violations on tying products together. This time XP and WMP 8. Additionally, MS is now being sued by InterTrust, a provider of technology for protecting songs and videos from being illegally copied. Apparently MS's new software infringes on their patents.

On a more positive note. Go2Mac has pics of the reported New York location for an Apple Store. 10,000 sf in a very very nice building. A reader asks? why so much space? And our answer is because we think Apple will showcase their gear in real life situations, complete with walls and furniture. In other words, a complete 'showcase of a digital lifestyle'.

Apple blew past Wall Street expectations by posting a $40 million profit on Wednesday. Pro product sales are up (especially PowerBook G4) but consumer sales indicate industry consumer downturn.

The Day Ahead: IBM, Apple and the Fed

New! Why Macintosh? 75 Macintosh Advantages report by Jeff Adkins. C/net today has a report on Email eating up workday time and productivity. Suggestions for improvement include bulletin boards for working teams rather than email. Also on the news front, Microsoft predicts possible bleaker future this year.

We have a report on Computer Graphics World's reported 3D shootout with a PIII vs Mac G4.

We have a new cover story focus on everything OS X with additional articles and an updated industry news portal at the bottom. (good stories).

A reader says Graphisoft has a hot new G4 running a Mac OS X build of ArchiCAD 7 at CeBIT. We have been running Mac OS X on a new Titanium PowerBook G4 and loving every minute of it. Sure, there is lots to be done still on OS X, but you are going to love what you can do with it now so much that you will beg developers to finish their products for it. We have a full series of reports coming up during this week and next so stay tuned ; )

On the Megahertz front, Mac OS Rumors is reporting that 1 GHz G4 (7450's) are targeted for August. Read the full report.

Also in the report is news that IBM and Moto will team up on the development of the G5 processor to address concerns that Moto cannot keep up with the needs of the Mac platform.

Older HighLights

Also on Mac OS Rumors is a link to video footage of Apple's new Palo Alto store under construction. The contractor is reportedly Fisher Development Inc., known for their work on Gap Stores. This is a top notch construction firm folks! Good news for those hoping Apple's retail chain would be cool. Now if we could just learn who the architect is ; )

Well, analysts are at it again, predicting mergers and acquisitions. This time Apple and Sun pair up! The full report at Reuters. We also have a new hot web destination for architects in our portal area below.
