Welcome to Architosh's improved home page! Look it over, we have some new items below and in the portal area at the bottom.

HighLights

News Alert: 26 Mar: A reader says Graphisoft has a hot new G4 running a Mac OS X build of ArchiCAD 7 at CeBIT. We have been running Mac OS X on a new Titanium PowerBook G4 and loving every minute of it. Sure, there is lots to be done still on OS X, but you are going to love what you can do with it now so much that you will beg developers to finish their products for it. We have a full series of reports coming up during this week and next so stay tuned ; )

On the Megahertz front, Mac OS Rumors is reporting that 1 GHz G4 (7450's) are targeted for August. Read the full report.

Also in the report is news that IBM and Moto will team up on the development of the G5 processor to address concerns that Moto cannot keep up with the needs of the Mac platform.

Also on Mac OS Rumors is a link to video footage of Apple's new Palo Alto store under construction. The contractor is reportedly Fisher Development Inc., known for their work on Gap Stores. This is a top notch construction firm folks! Good news for those hoping Apple's retail chain would be cool. Now if we could just learn who the architect is ; )

We will strive to learn more about this in the coming weeks.

Well, analysts are at it again, predicting mergers and acquisitions. This time Apple and Sun pair up! The full report at Reuters. We also have a new hot web destination for architects in our portal area below.

According to MacCentral Electric Image 3.0 will begin shipping by Monday of next week if not today (Friday). And there is a much interesting story on Guy Kawasaki's use of a ThinkPad at a recent talk.

We have a "no-go for Gehry's Modena project. See the other stories below in Industry News + Explorations.

In other news recently, BusinessWEEK says the TiBook, (aka; Titanium G4 PowerBook) will put Apple back in the black!). We think so, we ordered ours last week. Wired has reports on Microsoft Judge TP Jackson be ripped in appeals court.

Older HighLights

We have a new story at left, double titled, requesting help from Mac architects to save a Mac-based high school CAD program in Sacramento.

We have a new chart on 2000 Architecture Salary Levels for US Architecture Firms with notes. Are you getting paid what you are worth? Read on.

We have new information on our Firm Profile series available in the Features page. If you are interested in being featured here at Architosh please read about it. Update: We are currently working on our first installment of the Firm Profile series. We are planning for a March publication date.

We have a book review, our feature piece, on a superb text by architect Jonathan Cohen AIA. A must read! Oh, and by the way, Jonathan—who is an industry expert familiar with PC's and Macs—prefers Macs for many things. In fact, the book was produced on a Mac.

SAP One is new structural engineering/analysis software for the Mac.

One of Canada's premier design-oriented architecture firms, Moriyama & Teshima have chosen BOA as their new CAD design system. Read on to learn why.
