The upcoming Game Developers Conference 2016 (GDC) will play host to Maxon’s debut of a new virtual reality (VR) plugin for Cinema 4D, the popular professional 3D software suite for Mac and Windows.
New VR Plugin for Cinema 4D
Mason is reportedly excited to showcase a new recently launched CV-VR Cam plugin for Cinema 4D. The plugin helps render VR content out of the 3D software application. The plug-in allows CG artists to generate pre-rendered or interactive VR video content for YouTube or Facebook. MAXON Vice President of Operations, Rick Barrett, creator of the CV-VR Cam plug-in and author of the companion tutorial series available on the company’s Cineversity training and education website, will be on hand to provide attendees practical VR game developer tips. (Note: See separate CV-VR Cam press release here).
Mason’s booth at GDC (#533) will showcase Cinema 4D for 3D modeling, rendering, textures, animation and much more, including the new VR plugin. Demos will also offer fresh insight while highlighting the seamless connectivity between Cinema 4D and BodyPaint 3D with many of today’s leading game development platforms including Unity 3D, Unreal Engine and leading third-party software applications including Substance Designer, Photoshop, and others.
M dot Strange, indie game developer and internationally award-winning filmmaker, will also be at the MAXON booth showing content creator-friendly demos and breaking down the basic techniques for incorporating Cinema 3D with Unity to address the complexities of 3D game development, including storyboarding, character animation, set building, lighting, rendering, and more.
Strange has recently created comprehensive online game development courses at The Strange School, many geared to teaching artists how to create entire 3D third person games without writing code. At GDC, he will show how he used Cinema 4D and Unity to create “Smashy Town“, a game that was played on the streets of San Jose for the Subzero Festival and also showcase his just released course, “Awesome AI Made Easy”.
