MacCAD:
WildTools 7 now shipping for Mac OS X

WildTools 7, from Alfred P. Scott, is now shipping according
to a note from the developer. WildTools 7 is now written for
Mac OS X natively. The application -- which serves as a key
add-on package for PowerCADD
6 (also now native for Mac OS X) now supports the Aqua
interface and OS X user interface throughout.

WildTools 7
Some new features in WildTools 7 include improvements and
heavy use of the Live Selection in PowerCADD
6. It is now possible to select the hilite color in the
Preferences for PowerCADD. WildTools 7 can now do essentially
anything to a bitmap that you can do to any other object in
a PowerCADD drawing. If you copy a photograph into a PowerCADD
drawing it can be in a number of different formats or object
types; once you have converted it into a bitmap object a full
array of editing features is available.
With Bitmaps you can do things like cut a bitmap image with
the Knife Tool or the Freehand Knife Tool, which allows for
Bezier curve cut-outs of objects from photos and other bitmap
objects.
The Trim with Object Tool can be used to cut any bitmap as
well -- making it possible to use a square or rectangle with
rounded corners, for example, as a cutout tool. The effects
or final products from such operations can be very nice, very
much taking over the type of functionality you would get from
a dedicated illustration package like Adobe Illustrator.

Other Tools in WildTools 7
Additionally, other bitmap tools include Distort Points tool,
Shear Points tool, or Linear Patterning tool. The WildTools
3D tools allow you to automatically shear a bitmap into any
three dimensional depiction, with rotational capability added
onto that. For example, you can shear a photo and apply it
to an isometric projection (drawing) of a rectangle in 3D.
There is also a 3D Tilt tool, and 3D Mirror tool.
The new perspective tools allow you to convert a bitmap into
a perspective view of the bitmap or duplicate it in perspective.
Lastly there is a Mirroring in Perspective tool.
