MacCAD: BOA a success at Yelm High School architecture class

BOA Research has written in with news that Dusti Dufault, a teacher at Yelm High School, has found BOA to be a perfect new software tool to introduce high school students to architecture and the world of architectural CAD and 3D.

BOA Chosen for its "Future of CAD" Orientation

As the following story indicates, the search for the right CAD program for this high school architecture class was no automatic affair. It took time, evaluations, and good resources.

As a new comer to the CAD field, I started my CAD software hunt for my high school basic architecture course by research. As I came to find, many of the "popular" CAD software programs were not available in a Macintosh version and my 100 percent Mac lab wasn't going to change soon. I ran upon the "Architosh" website during my research and began to look at the available CAD programs (more than I expected).

Since it is my goal to give my students at least a basic understanding of what would be expected of them in the "real architecture world" I wanted to go with a program that would likely be something they would see in the future.

The idea of designing entirely in 3D was appealing. After finding that 3D CAD would likely be the future of CAD design, I knew the direction I should take.

And its Tutorials and Support

Dusti Dufault also said that BOA's excellent tutorials and superb service were key factors in choosing BOA as well.

As an inexperienced CAD person with even more inexperienced students I was worried about the outcome, but as it turns out I had no reason to worry. The staff at BOA have been extremely helpful and have gone above and beyond what I expected in terms of support. I can email the staff with a question and within less than half an hour many times I have my answer.

Although the learning curve is steep and at times frustrating, the end result—comfortably using an amazing software—is well worthwhile. -- Dusti Dufault

It is good to hear such praise for a program that—again—was born on the Mac and carries forward the Macintosh way of doing things simply and elegantly.

It's even better to hear that Architosh played a pivotal role in helping this high school teacher find BOA to begin with. It means Architosh is doing its job: helping Mac folks stay Macintosh by providing the IT resources they need. ;-)
