Perhaps nobody wants to see a new Mac Pro series of computers released at Apple WWDC 2013 in June than many of Architosh’s pro readers who are craving performance increases for CAD and 3D content development applications. While we recently reviewed the excellent AMD Sapphire HD 7950 for Mac Edition GPU card–which can support itself just fine in Mac Pros as old as 3 comma 1 (3,1) machines–all eyes will be on Apple in June to see what kinds of new muscle may emerge for its aging workstation (Mac Pro) line.
A Titan is Spotted
The good folks at MacNN have reported today that drivers for the Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan have been spotted in the latest Mac OS X 10.8.4 beta build. This latest OS X build is thought to be on the fast-track ahead of the upcoming Worldwide Developer’s Conference next month, signaling several possibilities, including a quicker than expected new version of Mac OS X (10.9).
While this latest test beta (version 12E55) includes drivers for GeForce GTX Titan, it is possible that they may not appear in the final release. That simply means that even if OS X 10.8.4 ships around the June time frame it may be that new Mac Pros will not arrive until early Fall. To learn a bit about the Titan now go here.
