Reinstated GPU Evaluation
One of the most exciting developments in Cinebench 2024 is the reinstatement of GPU benchmarking, gone missing for the past decade. With GPUs so critical to today’s many rendering and computational analysis tools, returning GPU evaluation strengthens Cinebench as an overall benchmarking tool.

The new software also unifies the benchmarking scene process, utilizing a consistent scene file for both CPU and GPU testing. This will let users understand the benefits of leveraging the GPU in their system, as opposed to just the CPU in their system. This testing happens by leveraging the Redshift GPU renderer, allowing users to gain insights into the power of harnessing cutting-edge graphics hardware for rendering tasks.
Redshift Renderer Integration
Cinebench 2024 embraces the power of Redshift, Cinema 4D’s default rendering engine. This is a departure from the program’s past use of the default rendering engine in Cinema 4D. Cinebench 2024 can now apply the same rendering algorithms [in Redshift] across both CPU and GPU implementations.
Maxon says this helps ensure that performance testing aligns seamlessly with the demands of modern creative workflows and delivers accurate results about these workflows.

Here are some added feature improvements and changes:
- Wider platform compatibility — the new benchmark broadens the hardware configurations across operating systems, adding in ARM chip architectures to extend its reach to Apple Silicon on macOS and Snapdragon® compute silicon on Windows.
- Wider GPU compatibility — the new benchmark powered by Redshift GPU performance can be evaluated on systems with compatible Nvidia, AMD, and Apple GPUs.
- Revamped User Interface — a new UI/UX is introduced in Cinebench 2024 which enhances the user experience and showcases the incredible artistic endeavors achieved with the Redshift render engine in Cinema 4D. The new UI is more intuitive and visual engaging.
- Unparalleled Performance Evaluation — the new software offers the industry an unparalleled performance evaluation, says Maxon, which warns that Cinebench 2024 scores cannot be compared to past versions of the software benchmark suite. The new software marks a new era for the popular benchmark.
There are also a number of under-the-hood enhancements. The memory footprint has tripled in size compared to its predecessor. The new software caters to the memory-intensive demands of modern projects. Moreover, there is a six-fold rise in computational effort and utilization of newer instruction sets to ensure the benchmark reflects and resonates with the complexity of today’s creative projects.

Architosh Analysis and Commentary
The new Cinebench 2024 test suite looks amazing and Architosh is delighted to use it as part of our hardware review testing suites. One area that this particularly challenging for us—since Architosh is highly committed to using cross-platform apps as much as possible to give readers a better understanding of the hardware performance differences between Mac and Windows computers—is comparable GPU performance between Mac and Windows. While GFXbench runs cross-platform (and includes Android and iOS), that benchmark is more game-oriented. Meanwhile, rendering benchmarks like Vray’s benchmark only run on Windows, and the excellent VRMark and 3DMark don’t support macOS.
Cinebench 2024, now including GPU testing, will allow us to not only include it as part of our GPU test suite (currently, that includes the test suites you see here) but also help us better compare Macs versus Windows systems specifically in the areas of GPU rendering and GPU performance.
