Chaos Releases V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max, Update 1

Update 1 for V-Ray 6 for Autodesk 3ds Max brings new post-processing upgrades, advanced decal tools, and new GPU rendering benefits.

With these and a group of additional new capabilities, 3ds Max artists benefit from using V-Ray 6 with Update 1.

V-Ray 6, Update 1

The new update adds Lens Effects and Denoiser layers that give artists more visual control when applying effects to specific lights and materials, smoothing out parts of an image, or personalizing their renders faster. Inside of post, users can start fine-tuning V-Ray Light Materials with Light Mix, making it easier to edit self-illuminating objects in a scene—even after rendering is complete.

Product visualization artists will enjoy new cylindrical and bump upgrades to V-Ray Decal. Designers can add anything to curved surfaces, from stickers and labels to surface imperfections. Bottles, jars, rockets, helmets, tanks—whatever the curved object—Decals will now cover any curved surface in a few basic clicks. And there are more bumps added so artists can blend surface and decal bumps to make highly realistic embossed logos, lettering, cracked paint, and spray effects.

More Added Features

Custom camera resolutions are now saved and maintained for each V-Ray camera when switching cameras. This will save users much time in constantly resetting these customizations. You can also batch render locally or via Chaos Cloud Rendering with multiple cameras.

Lens effects and denoising masking are some of the newest benefits offered in Update 1 for V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max.

There are new USD capabilities: artists can export V-Ray lights, materials, modifiers, and more to USD, and this will boost productivity when working in more complex studio pipelines.

There are also new cloud collaboration updates. Users can collab with new tools for visual annotations and versioning. Basic markup tools include lines, arrows, and other illustrative elements—all applied over images. And Chaos Cloud supports versions and A/B comparisons for faster iteration.
