Chaos Group Brings GPU+CPU Hybrid Rendering to V-Ray 3.6 for Maya

This week the Chaos Group has announced they have released V-Ray for Maya with support for GPU+CPU Hybrid rendering.

This is a major update to Chaos Group’s Academy award-winning renderer, used on television and film projects like Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Stranger Things.  This update introduces the new hybrid rendering system that maximizes GPUs and CPUs on high-end VFX productions.

“High-performance CPUs and GPUs can be limiting if they don’t work together,” said Vlado Koylavoz, Chaos Group co-founder. “With V-Ray Hybrid, artists can maximize their GPUs and CPUs in studio or in the cloud, putting their entire machine to use, so everything you pay for is always working to your advantage.”

V-Ray 3.6 for Maya

This new update gives artists greater flexibility around their hardware for renderings and animations; V-Ray for Maya users will be able to leverage NVIDIA’s CUDA-powered GPU rendering technology in unison with CPU rendering. 3D scenes can be rendered with GPUs, CPUs, or a combination of both.
