Chief Architect now released for Mac

Chief Architect Software this week announced its professional design software family for the Apple Mac platform. This new release, Chief Architect X6, now supports both the Windows and Mac platforms natively. Select customers have been using the new product in a beta form for months but the new product is scheduled for release in early 2014.

Chief Architect Family for Mac

The complete lineup of software for the Mac will consist of the following:

“Chief Architect X6 is a really exciting release for our customers,” says Greg Wells, President and CEO. “Not only does the product now run natively on the Mac OS, but, we did it in a way that allows you to run on either Windows or Mac with a single license. For the remodeling market, we integrated Chief Architect with our mobile Room Planner app to make client consultations and creating ‘as-built’ plans easy.”

01 – Chief Architect X6 is now available or Mac OS X in addition to Windows, meeting a longstanding request of its existing users who have adopted the Mac platform and opening itself up to rivals in the Mac CAD space.

With the mobile app you can quickly layout rooms and then later import them into Chief Architect X6. “Green Building and Energy Efficiency tools are now more seamlessly integrated into the design process,” continued Wells.

Chief Architect X6 Premier sells for 2,695.USD and the Lite and Interiors versions sell for 1,995.USD. The software includes one year of support, upgrades and training videos, plus catalog content downloads. A free trial version of Chief Architect is available at: www.chiefarchitect.com

Architosh Analysis

This is wonderful news for the AEC market in general. This product is especially popular on the construction side of AEC with legions of devoted builders, contractors and design builders in addition to architects using it daily. The 2D and 3D CAD product’s one fault of late was that many of its customers had adopted the Mac and wanted to run their favorite tool but couldn’t on their new hardware. This new version solves that.
